FAQ

product

What is Hearth?

Hearth is a voice-controlled smart home hub you actually own. It listens locally, talks to your self-hosted stack (Home Assistant, MQTT, Matter, Zigbee), and keeps your data at home — no cloud, no account.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. Voice recognition and all local automations run on-device. If the internet goes out, your lights, locks, and routines keep working. The only features that need connectivity are optional ones like weather lookups.

privacy

What data do you collect?

From the device: nothing. Hearth does not phone home.

From this website: an email address when you join the waitlist, and privacy-respecting pageview analytics (Umami, self-hosted, no cookies, no IP storage). Full detail on the privacy page.

shipping

When will Hearth ship?

We’re in pre-launch. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you as soon as we have a firm ship date — and never for any other reason.

open source

Is Hearth open source?

Yes. The firmware and supporting software are open source. See the open source page for the repository link and license.
